ASVPM is a nonprofit organization (IRS-registered 501(c)(3) and CA-registered Inc.) that spearheads the SVPM Scrum Team program, facilitated by volunteer professionals. This program serves as a platform for individuals to gain a comprehensive understanding and practical experience in Scrum and various Agile frameworks. Through hands-on engagement, participants develop skills and proficiency in Agile project management.
The journey of ASVPM and SVProjectManagement.com began in 2006 when an initiative emerged within Silicon Valley, California: The Silicon Valley Project Management blogging platform, www.SVProjectManagement.com. Created by a group of forward-thinking leaders with extensive expertise in project management, the website quickly became a valuable resource, drawing professionals from across the industry.
In 2018, David Bhakhtnia was invited to take ownership of the SV Project Management blogging platform. At the time, David already had his own blogging platform focused on his technical expertise as well as Agile frameworks and project management. Upon reviewing the SV Project Management platform, he realized its content was not only current and relevant but also a source of learning for him. This inspired the idea of sharing knowledge while fostering a community of Agile Project Management professionals.
David was joined by Donald Stringari, and together, they built the vision of a collaborative community for Agile-minded technical and professional project managers. Their goal was to create an environment where members could share knowledge and best practices in Agile methodologies.
By late 2018, with David and Donald as coaches, a group of Agile-minded volunteer project and program managers stepped up to lead the program. Their expertise and passion helped shape a vibrant community. This team, experienced in Agile frameworks, tailored the program to the unique needs of the talent pool. Today, the community consists of eight Scrum teams working together using a hybrid of Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Extreme Programming (XP), and other adaptable frameworks to address real-world project management challenges.
Under their leadership, the website remains a vital resource for project and program managers seeking to enhance their skills, share insights, and stay updated on industry advancements. The SVPM leadership team understands that true success lies in seamless collaboration, tailored to diverse organizational settings and environments. Continuous inspection and adaptation are key, considering factors such as culture, geography, and emotional intelligence. Knowledge alone is insufficient; it is the Agile response to evolving circumstances that drives project success.
